Digitisation of the energy transition
Law on the digitisation of the energy transition
The "Gesetz zur Digitalisierung der Energiewende" is a German Federal Law for the equipment and operation of intelligent metering systems ("smart meters") for the implementation and further advancement of the transition of the German energy industry, the "Energiewende." The law has been in force since September 2nd, 2016. It contains, among other things, the Smart Meters Operation Act (Messstellenbetriebsgesetz).
The interim model
The Federal Network Agency set up an "interim model" on December 20th, 2016, in order to align the specifications for electronic market communication with the requirements set out in the German Smart Meters Operation Act. It thus ensures integration of intelligent metering systems and modern measuring devices into market communication. The interim model came mostly into force on October 1st, 2017 and includes a provision for starshaped communication for renewable energy plants from smart metering systems to the TSO.
Please contact us for more information on the parameters required to set up TransnetBW GmbH as an external market participant.
Simultaneously, TransnetBW will receive data from smart metering systems in a test environment. Would you also like to benefit from the advantages that a joint test can offer? Please get in touch.
